Mary A. Zawodny
LOWELL Mary A. (Babei) Zawodny, 90, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Monday, December 1, 2008, at her home unexpectedly. She was the widow of the late Andrew J. Zawodny who died in 2003. Together, Andrew and Mary shared 62 wonderful years of Marriage.
A daughter of the late Maxim G. and Xenia Babei, she was born May 3, 1918, in Lowell, and educated in the Lowell Schools. She made her lifelong home in Lowell, and was a communicant of Holy Trinity Polish Church where she was also a member of the Ladies Sodality and the Parish Sodality of Czestochowa. She worked in the Downtown Kresge’s Department Store for several years as a sales manager until her marriage. She then raised her family and as a professional dancer performed with numerous Folk Groups through the International Institute of Lowell. In addition to dancing, she enjoyed crocheting, cooking Pierogis, and going to the movies every Friday in Downtown Lowell in the ‘good old days’.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice M. Zawodny and Jonathan Kolbas, of Lowell and Teresa M. LeMasurier and her husband, Roy, of Pepperell; her grandchildren, Regina McGearty and her husband, Derek, of Lowell and Steven A. LeMasurier of Pepperell; her beloved great grandson, Jacob A. LeMasurier of Lunenberg; her sister in law, Mary Babei, of Manchester, NH; and many devoted nieces, nephews and friends.
She was also the sister of the late Walter Babei.

HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT HOLY TRINITY POLISH CHURH AT 10 A.M..
