William H. ‘Bill’ Barry

LOWELL William H. ‘Bill’ Barry, 65, of Lowell, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Lowell General Hospital after a lengthy illness.

A son of the late William H. and the late Emily (Donovan) Barry, he was born August 16, 1949, in Somerville, and was raised and educated in that area.

Mr. Barry served with the United States Army from July 1969 to July 1971. During his service he received numerous medals and commendations including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Service Stars, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Army Commendation Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, as well as the numerous Marksman awards.

He made his home in the Pawtucketville Section of the City, and worked as a Union Painter for more than twenty five years throughout the Massachusetts area. One of Bill’s favorite things was the Ocean.

He is survived by his children, including his daughter, Emily Barry; his brother, Jerome Barry and his wife, Sheila Ehrens, his sister, Ginny Travers of Billerica;several nieces and nephews, including Vicki Travers of Billerica; and several great nieces and great nephews, including Michael Taylor and Patrick Taylor of Billerica.

He was also a brother of the late Diane Boggess.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS MEMORIAL VISITATION 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON TUESDAY, SEPT. 9. ON WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 10, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9:30 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 10 A.M. AT THE FUNERAL HOME. BURIAL IN LOWELL CEMETERY.
