Walter Lemire
LOWELL Walter J. Lemire, 82, of Lowell, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at Wingate at Belvidere, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Lyons) Lemire, with whom he would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary this coming October.
A son of the late Dora Lemire, he was born June 19, 1931, in Lowell, and was educated in the local schools and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1951.
A United States Navy veteran, Mr. Lemire served his country in the Korean War. Also, while in the Navy, he was selected for a small role in the film “Away All Boats”. He enjoyed traveling around the world with his wife and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed dancing in his younger days and he loved the beach. He will be remembered as someone who brought others joy and was always smiling.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Suzanne M. Lemire and Russell Belley of Lowell, his grandchildren, Matthew W. Hrinchuk of Lowell, Brian W. Hrinchuk and his girlfriend, Amanda Loiselle, of Lowell and Jenna P. Hrinchuk and her fiance, Kimsorng Mao of Dracut, his great grandchildren, Nathan Kim-Hrinchuk of Lowell, Sophia Mao of Dracut and Rosabelle Hrinchuk of Lowell. He is also survived by many wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The family would also like express their love to the wonderful staff at Wingate for all the help and support throughout this difficult time.
He was the father of the late Martin 'Magic' Lemire who died April 30, 2003. He was also the brother of the late Raymond Lemire.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON TUESDAY, APRIL 1. ON WEDNESDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 8:30 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
