Walter F. Forget

Retired Lowell Fire Fighter

LOWELL       Walter F. ‘Bud’ Forget, 89, retired Lowell Fire Fighter and Driver for Ladder Company 2, Branch Street, died peacefully, Friday, April 17, 2009, at his home.    He was the widower of the late Iona R. (Bartlett) Forget, who died November 3, 2003.

       A son of the late Edmund and the late Marjorie (Pierce) Forget, he was born November 14, 1919, in Cambridge, and lived in Tewksbury and Billerica before settling in Lowell, receiving his education in the local schools, graduating from Lowell High School, Class of 1938.

     Mr. Forget served with the United States Army  during World War II and served with the Army National Guard for over twenty years.  After his honorable discharge, he returned to Lowell and for over thirty years served as a Lowell Firefighter with Ladder 2, Branch Street.  A resident of the Belvedere Section of the City for more that Sixty years, and was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.  He was a Past President , Past Vice President, and Past Treasurer of the Lowell Retired Firefighters, and enjoyed spending time with his family.  In his spare time, he was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles.

     He is survived by two children, Karen L. Forget and her fiancee, Arthur J. Lambert Jr., of Lowell and Walter F. Forget Jr. of Dunstable; a granddaughter, Lori Leduc-Smith and her husband, Keith, of Allston; and several nieces, grand nieces and grand nephews.

     He was also the father of the late Ronald E. Forget who lost his life during the Vietnam Conflict.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 2 UNTIL 4 AND 6 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON SUNDAY, APRIL 19.  

ON MONDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 8 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. 

HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH AT 9 A.M..
