Virginia S. Roberto
LOWELL Virginia S. (Raymond) Roberto, 92, of Lowell, after a brief stay at Northwood she died unexpectedly, Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Lowell General Hosital, Saints Campus. She was the wife of Richard Roberto with whom she celebrated their Sixty Fourth Wedding Anniversary last year.
A daughter of the late Manuel Santos and the late Virginia Santos, she was born June 18, 1920, on the Island of St. George in the Azores, and came to the United States as a young lady.
She resided in Taunton until her marriage in 1951, and then made her home in Lowell, and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and a member of the Holy Ghost Society and devoted donors to the Poor Clares. She worked at the Robert Leonard Dress Company until becoming affiliated with Raytheon Corp in South Lowell as an instructor where she worked for thirty years before her retirement.
Virginia enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, trips to the ocean side, and especially enjoyed trips to Pompano Beach Florida.
In addition to her beloved husband, Richard, she is survived by her nephews and niece in Methuen and cousin Gloria Palermo and family friend Richard Masse many friends in the Lowell area and cousins in Teceira and St. George in the Azores.
She was also the sister of the late Joseph R. Santos, the late Maria R. Santos, the late Isabelle R. Machado and her late husband, Frank.

HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY’S CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL ST., LOWELL AT 10 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
