Urzelina M. Cunha
LOWELL Urzelina M. (Espinola Medina) Cunha, 86, of Lowell, died peacefully, Saturday, June 21, 2014, with her family by her side.
She was born February 9, 1928, in Graciosa, Portugal to the late Manuel and Mariana Bettencourt. She came to the United States in 1974 with her husband, Alvaro, to provide their family with a better life. She was employed by Wang Laboratories for many years, and helped raise her grandchildren during her retirement.
She loved spending time with her family, often traveling to Toronto to see her son and daughter. She also enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crocheting, cooking and baking for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvaro; two infant grandchildren, Jamie Bettencourt and Kenny Bettencourt; grandchild Luis Cunha; her sister, Maria Ataide; and her brother, Laurino Espinola.
Her loving spirit is carried on by her children, Maria Guadalupe Bettencourt and her husband, Manuel, of Tewksbury, Manuel Cunha and his wife, Guadalupe, of Toronto Canada, Nazare Silva, of Toronto Canada, and her grandchildren, Erik Bettencourt, Sara Bettencourt, Duarte Silva, Thelma Silva, Helena Beenerjee, Jackleen Cunha, and her great grandchildren, Jordan Cunha, Raymond Silva, Dylan Beenerjee.
The family would like to thank Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley for the loving care and attention that she received.
