LOWELL Urbina Mary (Espinola) Champagne, 71, passed away after a brief illness Sunday, July 17, 2016 at her Central Street home with her family by her side. She was the widow of the late Henry Champagne whom passed away in 1976.
She was born on April 29, 1945 in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal and was a daughter of the late Manuel J. Espinola and the late Estefania G. (Silva) Espinola. Mary grew up in Gracisoa, where she attended the area schools, before coming to the United States in 1958 with her family and settling in Lowell.
Mary was a member of the Holy Ghost Society and a communicant of St. Anthony Church. She was employed at Scottie Shoes in Pelham, as well as at Santoro’s in Lowell for many years until her retirement. She loved gardening, walking and adored her 3 cats. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great granddaughter in her yard.
She is survived by two daughters, Rita Champagne of Lowell, and Maryann Champagne and her companion, Russell Wilbur of Lowell; her grandchildren, Felicia Gomes and her fiance, Joshua Martinez, John Gomes, Russell Wilbur Jr., Daniella Derenzo, Armani Rivera; and her great granddaughter, Dianyliz Gomes. She is also survived by her sister, Quelminda Levesque of Palm Bay, FL; two best friends, Judy Sousa and Alcina Buckley; her godchildren, Mark Carroll and Denise Melo; and, many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings the late Leonel Espinola and the late Arlindo Espinola.
The family would like to thank Circle Home Health and Hospice, especially nurses Tara and Brandi, and Tufts Medical Center, 4th Floor, nurses for their compassion during this time.

HER FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 10 A.M. HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL STREET, LOWELL AT 11 A.M..
A PROCESSION WILL FOLLOW TO ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
