Thomas F. Gangi

LOWELL Thomas F. Gangi, 71, a lifelong Lowell resident and devoted husband to Phyllis E. (Convery) Gangi, died unexpectedly, Wedneday, April 25, 2012, at Saints Medical Center after a brief illness.

A son of the late Salvatore and the late Bridget (Daugherty) Gangi, he was born August 30, 1940, in Lowell, and attended St. Michael’s Grammar School and graduated from Lowell High School.

Mr. Gangi worked for Union Carbide in Lowell before establishing his career as a Private Contracting Company working in the Greater Boston, Natick, and Lowell areas.
When he wasn’t enjoying time with his family, he was a great sports fan, especially of the Boston Teams, and he also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, and traveling on the weekends to Rockport, Newburyport, and Gloucester. He also liked feeding the birds and ducks along Lowell’s River Walk, and going to the Lowell Senior Center.
A lifelong Lowell resident, he made his home in the Highlands Section of the City since 1970, and was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church.

In addition to his wife, Phyllis, he is survived by his children, Phyllis E. Markgren of Lowell, Janice E. Wesson and her husband, Robert, of Hudson, NH, Thomas F. Gangi and his wife, Martha, of Alexandria, VA, Joseph A. Gangi of Lowell, and Anthony S. Gangi of Lowell; his grandchildren, John R. Markgren, Kevin Markgren, David Markgren, Kerriann Wesson, Angela Wesson, and Margaret Frances Gangi; his great grandchildren, Chloe Markgren and Nathaniel, Allison, and Benjamin Markgren; his brother, John S. Gangi of Gardner; and several nieces and nephews.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 2 UNTIL 6 P.M. ON SUNDAY, APRIL 29. ON MONDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 8:30 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
