Suzette Simoes
LOWELL Suzette (Lapa) Simoes, 85, of Lowell, passed away on September 13, 2011, at her home. She was the wife of Mario I. Simoes, with whom she celebrated their Fifty Third Wedding Anniversary this year.
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Antonio Lapa and the late Eliza Barreiro, and grew up and was educated in that area. She came to the United States with her husband and four children in October of 1979, settling in Lowell.
She enjoyed the Feasts of the Holy Ghost, cooking, sewing, taking care of her home, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Simoes worked for Carroll Shoe and as an assembler at BASF.
In addition to her husband, Mario, she is survived by seven children, Dulce Domingos and her husband, Emidio, of Portugal, Victor Cardia and his wife, Edite, of Lowell, Ana Maria DaSilva and her husband, Julio, of Portugal, John Simoes and his wife, Ana, of Florida, Cristina Simoes of Dracut, Mario Simoes of Portugal, and Lisa Vieira and her husband, Tony, of Lowell; eight teen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren, one great grand son; two daughters in law, Isabele Cardia of Portugal and Olinda Cardia of Lowell; a sister, Cristina Cruz and her husband, Jorge, of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Carlos Cardia and the late Luis Cardia who both passed away in December of 2007, and grandmother of the late Junior Simoes who passed away April 19, 1999, and sister of the late Antonio Lapa.
