Carrie Jo ‘Jody’ Surkis
LOWELL Carrie Jo ‘Jody’ (Anderson) Surkis, 40, a lifelong Lowell resident, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at her home after a brief illness. She was the fiancé of Ray Michaud.
Born December 22, 1970, in Lowell, she was a daughter of Joseph Anderson and the late Mildred (Brown) Hayes, and was educated in the Lowell School System, graduating from Lowell High School.
A lifelong Lowell resident, she enjoyed shopping, arts and crafts, the Beach, Christmas time and decorating, and loved traveling, especially to the Mountains.
She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the Lowell area, and was also a licensed hair dresser.
She is survived by her children, Alicia Surkis and Jonathan Surkis of Westford; her sister, Tina Bryant and her husband, Michael Nys, of Lowell; her brothers, Charles Bryant of Lowell, Howard Swenson and his wife, Christine, of Loudon, NH, Edward Lach and his wife Christine Sawyer of Lowell, Toby Lach of Lowell; and her former husband, Carl Surkis of Westford; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and close friends including Sue Surkis of Dracut, and Lucille Homen of Dracut.
She was also the sister of the late Donald Bryant.
