Stella Sperounis
"Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother"
LOWELL Stella (Koutrobis) Sperounis, 93, a lifelong resident of the Acre section of the city, died Monday, February 4, 2013, peacefully with her beloved children at her side. She was the widow of the late Spero C. Sperounis who died in 1978.
The last surviving of seven children of the late William and the late Catherine (Russell) Koutrobis, she was born August 3, 1919, in Lowell, and was educated in the local schools attending the Barlett Junior High School and Lowell High School.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Hellenic Orthodox Church. She had worked for Community Teamwork Inc. Headstart as an assistant teacher prior to her retirement in 1978.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She also spent time at the Lowell, Chelmsford, and the Dracut Senior Centers. She enjoyed swimming, singing and dancing, in particular to her favorite song, ‘Blue Spanish Eyes’. Stella was a kind, gentle and patient individual who always had time and a smile for all she encountered.
Her pride and joy were her children, and she loved them as only a mother could with an open and giving heart that knew no boundary for love and affection. She will be greatly missed by her son, Charles S. Sperounis of Lowell, and her daughter, Sandra Petropoulos of Lowell. A loving grandmother, she leaves behind her grandchildren, John S. Petropoulos and his wife, Leticia, of Cary, NC, and Josh S. Petropoulos of Lowell as well as her beloved great grandson, James E. Petropoulos of Cary, NC; her sisters in law, Pat Koutroubis of Chelmsford, Mary Koutroubis of Dracut and Jennie Maguire of Lowell; her son in law, George Petropoulos of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late William S. Sperounis, and sister of the late Helen Koines, the late Koula Thomas, the late Effie Koutroubis, the late George Koutroubis, the late Peter Koutroubis, and the late Christos Koutroubis.
The Sperounis Family would like to thank The Lifecare staff and families for the care Stella received.
