Sophie Serptowski
LOWELL Sophie Serptowski, 83, a lifelong Lowell resident of the Highlands Section of the City, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at D’Youville Senior Health Care Center after a brief illness.
A daughter of the late Arcadi and the late Petrunella (Petkiewicz) Serptowski, she was born August 4, 1930, in Lowell, and graduated from Lowell High School.
She made her home in the Highlands Section of the City and was a communicant of St. Margaret Church. She worked in the accounts department for Fred C. Church Insurance for 32 years.
Sophie was an accomplished singer, performing in many recitals and shows as well as with the Lowell Opera Company.
Sophie was dedicated to her family and was a loving and compassionate sister to the late Mary Helena Serptowski with whom she had lived with until Mary’s death in 2008. She was also a sister of the late Andrew J. Serptowski, Helen R. Malinowski and John J. Malinowski. She is survived by her dear friends, Elizabeth and Steven Webber, Denise and Bryan Ewing, Pauline and Real Bernier, Della Nabydowski and Anthony Andrade.
