Shane P. Downs

Beloved son, brother, uncle, friend

LOWELL Shane P. Downs, 36, of Lowell, loving son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at his home, after a seizure on Friday, June 15, 2018.  It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we make this announcement of Shane's passing.

Shane was born in Lowell on July 30, 1981 and was a son of John J. ’Jack’ Downs and Maryellen (Howe) Downs. He was raised in Lowell where he attended the area schools, including Middlesex Community College. Shane was a avid Boston sports fan, primarily of the Boston Red Sox, whom he followed faithfully throughout his life.  He also loved international politics and he loved to engage in open discussions regarding politics.    Shane also loved his uncle Gary, who he helped take care of on a daily basis.

In addition to his parents, Jack and Maryellen of Lowell, he is survived by his sister, Christal Kum and her husband, Sareth of Lowell; and his brother, Christopher Downs and his girlfriend, Sherry Pan, of Natick. He is also survived by his nieces, Cassandra, Peyton, and Meeya all of Lowell, and his Goddaughter, Nia Kailyn Eang of Lowell who were all the light of his life; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

       He was pre deceased by his paternal grandparents, John J. Downs and Esther Downs, and his maternal grandparents, William Mulligan and Barbara Mulligan, and his Godfather and uncle, Kevin Downs.

       Shane, you will always be greatly missed and will always be in our hearts forever, Love you, your Family.

          ON THURSDAY, JUNE 21, YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 2 UNTIL 6 P.M AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL, 978-458-6816.

HIS FUNERAL SERVICE WILL TAKE PLACE THURSDAY IN THE FUNERAL HOME AT 6 P.M. FOLLOWING THE VISITATION.

BURIAL WILL BE HELD PRIVATELY AT ST. MARY CEMETERY.

IN LIEU OF LOWERS, DONATIONS CAN BE MADE TO THE WISH PROJECT, ONE FOUNDRY INDUSTRIAL PARK A, LOWELL MA 01852.
