Saleotino Silva

LOWELL Saleotino Silva, 70, of Lowell, died Sunday, November 1, 2009, at Saints Medical Center after a brief illness. He was the husband of Durvalina G. (Sousa) Silva, with whom he celebrated their Forty Second Wedding Anniversary this past January.

Born July 21, 1939, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Manuel and the late Olivia (Silva) Silva, and was educated in that area. He came to the United States in 1971, settling in Lowell, and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church.

Mr. Silva enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening, especially tending to his grape vines. When he arrived in the United States he worked in the paving industry before working as a machine operator for Prince Macaroni for more than twenty four years prior to his retirement.

In addition to his wife, Durvalina, he is survived by a son, Edgar D. Silva and his wife, Susan, of Dracut; his grandchildren, Brittany Silva, Rachel Silva, and Kyle Silva, all of Dracut; his sisters, Rosa Espinola and her husband, Manuel, of Lowell and Maria Horta and her husband, Edelberto, of Lowell; his brothers, Joao Silva and his wife, Jorgina, of Lowell and Juventino Silva and his wife, Laurinda, of Lowell; a sister in law, Noemia Silva of Lowell; a brother in law, Manuel Sousa and his wife, Armandina, of Graciosa; his God daughters in Graciosa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was also the brother of the late Manuel Silva and the late Alexandrino Silva, and brother in law of the late Maria Silva.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4. ON THURSDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
