Robert J. ‘Bob’ Perry
TEWKSBURY Robert J. ‘Bob’ Perry, 66, of Tewksbury, died peacefully, Sunday, October 31, 2010, at Massachusetts General Hospital after an extended illness, with his family by his side. He shared his life with Adele (Doherty) Hackett his girlfriend and best friend for the past twenty eight years.
A son of the late James and the late Helen F. (Berry) Perry, he was born November 7, 1943, in Fitchburg, and was graduated from Spaulding Memorial High School in Townsend.
After High School, he became a baker, working for large hotels and for several private schools, before settling into Phillips Academy in Andover where he worked as the sole baker for over forty years. Bob loved to bake and was known for making cakes for Charities and Gingerbread Bread Houses for Lawrence General Hospital during the Christmas Season. But, most of all, he was especially known for his brownies and his cheesecake.
In his spare time he enjoyed fixing and restoring cars, taking trips to Foxwoods, taking cruises, and was an avid shopper, especially on ‘Black Friday’. He was also always willing to lend his family and friends a helping hand.
His favorite pasttime was spending time with his family especially at cookouts, parties, and when they traveled together. Everyone who loved Bob will remember his passion for keeping everything neat and organized.
In addition to his girlfriend and best friend for the past twenty eight years, Adele Hackett of Tewksbury, he is survived by his son, Douglas R. Perry, and his girlfriend Carolyn Mishou of Framingham; Adele’s children, who he considered to be his own, Donna Gens and her husband, James, of Lowell, Julie McIver and her husband Stephen of Hudson, NH, William Hackett and his wife, Carlene, of Andover, and James Hackett and his girlfriend ,Sarah Fitzgerald, of Brookline; his sister, Rose Conner of Burlington; his brother, Ken Perry of San Diego, CA; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, as well as many many friends.
