Robert J. 'Bob' Barrett

LOWELL Robert J. 'Bob' Barrett, 76, of Lowell, died after a long illness Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Anne (Flynn) Barrett, with whom they celebrated their forty ninth Wedding Anniversary last March.

Born January 29, 1935, in Lowell, and he was a son of the late Francis, and the late Rose (Stewart) Barrett. Bob grew up in Lowell, educated at Lowell High School before moving to Lunenburg for thirty years until returning to Lowell in 2004.

He resided in Belvidere, and was a communicant of St. Michael's Church. He was employed as an Electrical & Mechanical Buyer for multiple companies including Raytheon and Sanders, before retiring from Lau Technologies. Bob enjoyed gardening, painting portraits, fishing, spending time outdoors, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Besides his wife, Anne, he is survived by a son, Stephen Barrett and his wife, Dorothy of Oakland, California; a grandson, Matthew Barrett of Oakland, California; a brother, William Barrett of Chelmsford; a sister Rosemarie Boutillier of Dracut; a brother in law, Walter J. Flynn and his wife, Nancy of Lowell; his best friend, Maurice Clermont Lowell; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Bernadette Sweeney, the late Francis Barrett, and the late Raymond Barrett.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 5 UNTIL 9 P.M. ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 14. ON SATURDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN FORMING AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. MICHAEL'S CHURCH AT 10 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. MARY CEMETERY.
