Richard P. ‘Dick’ Beati
Lifelong Lowell Resident

LOWELL        Richard P. ‘Dick’ Beati, 79, a lifelong Lowell resident until 2007 when he moved to Dunstable, died Monday, February 23, 2009, at Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness. He was the widow of the late Audrey (Hamilton) Beati, with whom he had celebrated their forty fifth wedding anniversary before her death in January of 2005.
     A son of the late Antonio and the late Anna (Andreoli) Beati, he was born March 24, 1929, in Lowell, and attended St. Peter’s Grammar School, graduated from Lowell High School, Class of 1946 and served with the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean Conflict.  
      He was a dedicated employee of Towers Motor Parts for over sixty years. In addition to his career, he was a Charter member of the Friends of Lowell High School, a Past President and active member of the former Italian American Citizens Club of Lowell, and a 200% Fund Raiser for the Lowell Y.M.C.A. Building Fund. 
      Making his lifelong home in Lowell, he was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church, where he also served as an usher. He was an avid sportsman, having played softball for the legendary B & D team.  He also played tennis and was a duckpin bowler for many years. In his spare time, he could be found coaching little league baseball at Callery Park. Most of all he will be remembered as a dedicated father, grandfather, and husband.
     He is survived by four children, Lisa Lake and her husband, Richard, of Bethesda, MD, Phillip Beati and his wife, Lisa, of North Kingstown, RI, David Beati of Dunstable, and Stephen Beati and his wife, Dawn, of Lowell; ten grandchildren, Jillian Elizabeth Lake, Marisa Catherine Lake, and Benjamin Hamilton Lake all of Bethesda MD; Michael Ryan Beati, Kaitlin Christina Beati, Christopher Richard Beati, and Jacob Hamilton Beati all of N. Kingstown RI; Alexis Madeline Beati of Lowell, and Alexander Hamilton Beati and Antonio Lucas Beati both of Dunstable; two brothers in law, Richard Hamilton of Saratoga Springs, NY and Timothy Sullivan of Tewksbury and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
      He was also the brother of the late M. Madeline Beati, Christina M. Beati, Lucy R. (Beati) Wilson and her late husband, Raymond, the late Anthony J. Beati and his wife, Dolores and the late Alice (Beati) Sullivan.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 3 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY.

ON THURSDAY, FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 10 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. 

HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. MARGARET’S CHURCH AT 11 A.M.
