Raymond L. ‘Ray’ Reynolds
LOWELL Raymond L. ‘Ray’ Reynolds, 69, of Lowell, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Nancy Reynolds with whom he celebrated their Forty Fourth Wedding Anniversary last August 17.
A son of the late L. Raymond Reynolds and the late Margaret T. (Riley) Reynolds, he was born May 8, 1948, in Lowell, and raised and educated in the Lowell Schools, graduating from Lowell High School with the Class of 1967. He continued his education at Northern Essex Community College, earning a degree in Business Administration. He enlisted with the United States Army and served his Country from December 1969 to September 1971. Upon his honorable discharge, he again furthered his education at Lowell Technical College earning an additional degree in Accounting.
From 1973 to 1981, Ray worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an accountant for the Housing Authority. From 1981 to 2001 he worked in Fall River as the City Auditor, later working as the Town Accountant of Rehoboth from 2001 until 2009 when he retired. In his retirement he worked as a Genealogist specializing in Colonial American and French Canadian genealogy. He was also a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants #88436, The Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of New Hampshire #1336 and The American Canadian Genealogy Society #10442. When he wasn’t enjoying his hobbies, family was his love, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife, Nancy, he is survived by his children Theresa Marie James of Fall River and James Reynolds and his wife, Jennifer, of Nashua, NH; his grandchildren, Ally Madison Reynolds, Ashley Margaret Reynolds, Isabelle Joyce James, and Sophie Ann Reynolds; his brothers, Daniel E. Reynolds of California and Gerald Gendron of Massachusetts.
