Raul A. Lobao
TEWKSBURY Raul A. Lobao, 86, of Tewksbury, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Maria E. (Silva) Lobao who passed away in 2010 after 55 years of marriage.
He was born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal on December 18, 1932 and was a son of the late Francisco and the late Alexandrinha (Reis) Lobao. He was raised in Graciosa, where he attended the area schools before serving in the Portuguese Army.
In 1972, Raul came to the United States settling in Lowell and was a communicant of St. Anthony Church in Lowell. He was employed as an inspector for Commodore Foods and later at Cambridge Tools until his retirement. He was a longtime active member and former board member of the Holy Ghost Society; member of the Portuguese American Civic League ‘the Red’s Club’ and member of the Portuguese American Center ‘the Blue’s Club.’
Raul is survived by his three children, Leonia Faustino and her husband, Joe of Tewksbury, Helio Lobao and his wife, Maria Filomena of Tyngsboro, and Raul S. Lobao and his wife, Manuela of Quebec, Canada; his four grandchildren, Nicholas A. Faustino and his wife, Holly of Dracut, Arielle Lobao of Lowell, Jeffrey Lobao of Quebec, Canada, and Chantal Lobao of Tyngsboro; and four great grandchildren, Saihena, DeAndre, and Devion Rivera, and Nicholas J. Faustino Jr..
He is also survived by his siblings, Olga Bettencourt and her husband, Francisco of Lowell, Maria F. Silva and her husband, Olimpio of Lowell, Madalena Cunha of Lowell, Alexandrinha Baker of Lowell, Alice Silva of Billerica, and Frank Lobao of Lowell; his sister in law, Maria R. Lobao of Lowell; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was also the father of the late Leonia Lobao who passed away as an infant; and brother of the late Antonio Lobao, the late Joao Lobao, and the late Florentino Lobao who also passed away as an infant; and brother in law of the late Raul Cunha, and Peter Baker.
ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 16, 2019, YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 8 UNTIL 10 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL, MA 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL STREET, LOWELL AT 11 A.M.. A PROCESSION WILL FOLLOW FOR BURIAL AT ST. MARY CEMETERY IN TEWKSBURY.
