LOWELL Quelminda B. (Cunha) Conde, 78, of Lowell, passed away after a long illness on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Northwood Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Manuel Conde whom passed away in 2006 after 45 years together.
Quelminda was born March 4, 1937, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal and was a daughter of the late Manuel Cunha, and the late Alexandrina (Bettencourt) Cunha. She was educated in Graciosa where she lived until 1976 when she relocated to the United States, settling in the Back Central Street neighborhood for the last 39 years. Quelminda was a devoted communicant of St. Anthony Parish.
Most recently she worked at Wang Laboratories for 9 years. Previously she was employed at local shoe shoes including Paris Shoe and Caroll Shoe. Quelminda enjoyed crocheting, and staying at home and spending time with her family and friends.
Quelminda is survived by her children, Rui Jorge Conde and his wife, Sonia of Graciosa, Daniel Conde of Graciosa, and Michael Conde of Lowell;
her siblings, Josef Vasconcelos and his wife, Lucia (caretaker) of Lowell, Maria Cunha of Lowell, Leontina Cunha of Canada, and Ermelinda Cunha of Graciosa;
her sisters in law, Alcinda Silva (caretaker) of Tewksbury, Leonilde Silva and her husband, Manuel of Tewksbury, and Maria Figueredo and her husband, Sabino of Lowell; her niece, Glorinda Medeiros (caretaker) of Dracut; and her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Manuel Conde Jr.; sister of the late Manuel Lobao, Isalino Loba and Rosa Cunha Bettencourt and sister in law of the late Januario Silva, Dionisio Conde, Floriberto Cunha, and Jeronima Conde.
