Paul F. Creegan, Sr.
LOWELL Paul F. Creegan, Sr., 88, of Marlboro, formerly of Lowell, passed away November 5, 2014, at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Jean R. (Cirillo) Creegan, with whom he had celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary this year.
A son of the late Michael H. and Anna F. (Mullin) Creegan, he was born November 7, 1925, in Lowell and was educated in the local schools, graduating from Lowell High School. He served the United States Navy, aboard the USS Gurke in the Pacific during World War II from 1943-1946.
He made his lifelong home in the Highlands Section of the City and was a communicant of St. Margaret Church. For forty nine years he was a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society and served as President for twenty three years. For eleven years he was a member of the Lowell Catholic High School Board of Trustees and was Chairman for seven years. In addition, he was a former trustee of the Catholic Charitable Bureau of the Archdiocese of Boston and President of the Keith Academy Mens’ Club. In 2005, he received the Bishop McNamara Award from Lowell Catholic High School, and this month was awarded the Bishop Cheverus Medal from the Archdiocese of Boston for his dedicated service.
Paul was a dedicated family man and an avid fan of the Boston sports teams.
Mr. Creegan worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Civil Engineer for more than 40 years prior to his retirement in 1987.
In addition to his loving wife, Jean, he is survived by his children, Paul F. Creegan Jr. and his wife, Helen, of Melrose, Kathleen C. Damaskos and her husband, Arthur, of Mattapoisett, Brian Creegan and his wife, Ann, of Tyngsboro, and Karen C. Keenan and her husband, Robert, of Wellesley; his grandchildren, Marc Creegan and his wife, Toni, of Worcester, Heather Creegan of Fall River, Anna-Jean McGillvray and her husband, Michael, of Norwood, Shawn Creegan and his wife, Kristen, of Nashua, NH, Alison Damaskos of Washington, DC, Elena Damaskos of Boston, and Ryan, Dylan and Brendan Keenan all of Wellesley; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also a brother of the late Roseann Lee and the late Robert M. Creegan.
