Osmar 'Cafe' Cardoso

LOWELL Osmar 'Cafe' Cardoso, 71, of Lowell, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at Radius Northwood Healthcare Center.

He was born on November 10, 1942 in Barao De Cocais, M.G., Brazil, a son of the late Joventino Cardoso and the late Maria Cardoso. He was educated in Brazil before moving to the United States in the 1970's, settling in Lowell.

Osmar was a professional soccer player in Brazil for over 20 years, playing for America Mineiro and Valerio Doce. He also played in the United States for the Boston Astros. Later, he worked as a machine operator in Acton for many years.

He is survived by his sons, Alex G. Cardoso and his wife, Camila, and Anderson G. Cardoso, all of Coconut Creek, FL; Adrian G. Cardoso and his wife, Eliana of Chelsea, MA; their Mother, who was the love of his life, Maria Cardoso of Pompono, Florida, and six grandchildren, Joao Gabriel Cardoso, Ana Cardoso, Alan Cardoso, Mateo Cardoso, Adric Cardoso, and Elijah Cardoso. He is also survived by many siblings in the United States and Brazil.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 12 NOON UNTIL 2 P.M. ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11 AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD IN THE FUNERAL HOME AT 2 P.M.
