Oscar Camacho
LOWELL Oscar Camacho, 92, of Lowell, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Lowell General Hospital-Saints Campus after a brief illness with his family by his side. For over fifty years he was the husband of the late Elvira ‘Vera’ (Souza) Camacho who died in 2010.
Born June 6, 1923, in Lowell, he was a son of the late Joseph and the late Deolinda Camacho, and attended the local schools. Mr. Camacho served with the United States Navy during World War II, and held membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Camacho made his lifelong home in the Highlands Section of the City, and was a communicant of St. Margaret Church. He was employed as a packer for Interstate Container for many years before his retirement.
Oscar liked attending Lowell Spinner games as well as Boston Red Sox games, and especially loved the New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Shirley Guild and her husband, Chester, of Lancaster, and Dolores Christman and her husband, Rene, of Lowell; grandchildren, Darren Guild, Brian Christman and his wife, Jane, and Christine Simpson; great grandchildren, Keith Christman, Kyle Christman, Ashley Simpson, and Benjamin Simpson; his sisters, Dottie Greaves of Lowell and Lillian Almesis of Lowell; his brother, Henry Camacho of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
