Maria Noe Nunes
LOWELL Maria Noe (Costa) Nunes, 72, of Lowell, formerly of Cambridge, died March 18, 2008 after a long illness. She was the wife of Francisco B. Nunes, with whom she would have celebrated their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary this year.
A daughter of the late Manuel G. and the late Rosa G. Costa, she was born July 5, 1935, in Terceira, Azores, was educated in that area, and came to the United States in 1975, settling in Cambridge, where she made her home until two years ago when she relocated to Lowell.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in Cambridge and in Lowell. She was a gifted seamstress throughout her lifetime, working in Cambridge in the textile industry, and will be remembered for her many works of art for family and friends made with love and care. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and was a doting grandmother to her grandsons, Sean and Ryan.
In addition to her husband, Francisco, she is survived by a son, Frank M. Nunes and his wife, Jenny, of Tewksbury; her two grandsons, Sean F. Nunes and Ryan S. Nunes both of Tewksbury; two sisters, Maria Luz Sales and her husband, Joao, of Toronto, Canada, and Luiza M. Jesus and her husband, Antonio, of Brockton; sisters in law, Herminia Martins and her husband, Manuel, of Cambridge, Manuela Nunes and her husband, Antonio, of Somerville, and Fatima M. Cancela and her husband, Artur, of South Lawrence; and many nieces and nephews throughout Terceira, Canada, and the United States.
She was also the sister of the late Emeligana Coute and sister in law of the late Manuel Coute.
