Norman F. DuHamel Sr.
TEWKSBURY Norman F. DuHamel Sr., 85, of Tewksbury, passed away after a brief battle with cancer, on Monday, May 30, 2016 at D’Youville Senior Care. He was the husband of the late Gertraud ‘Gert’ (Werner) DuHamel who passed away in July of 2000.
He was born in Lowell on March 7, 1931 and was a son of the late Alfred and the late Esther (Donnelly) DuHamel. Norman was raised in Lowell, where he attended the area schools including, St. Peter’s Parochial School before graduating from Lowell High School.
Mr. DuHamel served with the United States Army during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. While in the Army, Norman was stationed in Germany for many years, where he met and married his wife, Gert.
He was employed as a storekeeper for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts DPW, as well as working nights as a clerk at Sears in Nashua. Norman was a member of the VFW Post 662 in Lowell and was on the Hynes Tavern Bowling Team for many years. He was an avid baseball fan, especially rooting for the Boston Red Sox.
Norman is survived by his six children, Esther Brown of Pelham, NH, Eileen Callanan and her Fiancé David Avery of Tewksbury, Norman DuHamel Jr. and his wife, Dianne of Haverhill, Phillip DuHamel and his wife, Sandra of Lowell, Christine Couture of Lowell, and Charlene DuHamel of New Bedford, MA. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; a son in law, Richard Haugen of Lowell; two aunts, Margaret Donnelly of Lowell and Emma Powers of Marshfield; and many cousins.
He was also the father of the late Dianne Haugen; father in law of the late Dwight Brown and the late Scott Callanan; and brother of the late Alfred DuHamel.

ON FRIDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 10:30 A.M. AT THE FUNERAL HOME. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT 11:30 A.M. AT ST. ANTHONY CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL STREET, LOWELL. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW AT ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
