Muriel Helen (Paradis) Brophy
LAWRENCE Muriel Helen (Paradis) Brophy, 87 of Lawrence, passed away at home peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 28, 2020 in her room surrounded by the things she adored. She was the former wife of the late Patrick McCarthy II, and was the widow of the late Robert Brophy who passed after over 50 years of marriage.
She was born on January 23, 1933 in Nashua, NH and was the daughter of the late Victor Paradis and the late Alice Marie (Mailloux) Paradis. She was raised and educated in the Nashua, NH area.
Muriel loved country music, especially Alan Jackson. She also loved Disney princesses and playing Bingo as often as she could in Nashua. She will be remembered for being a ‘Grammy’ to many children, family and friends.
Muriel is survived by four sons, Patrick McCarthy III and his wife, Mary of Florida, Michael McCarthy and his wife, Susan of Concord, NH, Robert Brophy Jr of Mass and Steven Brophy of Lawrence who was a Godsend to her during her final days; her beloved 13 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren who brought her so much joy. She is also survived by her brother, Albert Paradis of California; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was predeceased by her daughter, the late Debra Lee Gore who passed away in May of 2020; and her siblings, the late Lionel Paradis, the late Romeo Paradis, the late Armand Paradis, and the late Connie Varney.
