Mildred L. Urbanek

LOWELL Mildred L. (Lopes) Urbanek, 90, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Heritage Nursing Care Center after a long illness. She was the widow of the late Charles T. Urbanek who died in 2000.

Born February 20, 1921, in Lowell, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and the late Lena (Silva) Lopes, and was educated in the local schools.

She made her lifelong home in Lowell, and had worked throughout the area as a waitress, mostly for the Whipple Cafe, then for several of the Lowell Mills, and before her retirement, worked as an assembler at Western Electric.

Mildren loved to travel to Las Vegas and Foxwoods and loved to play Bingo. She especially loved watching Television, especially Walker Texas Ranger, and considered Chuck Norris her boyfriend.

She is survived by her children, Charlene M. Urbanek of Goffstown, NH, Debra A. Barbosa and her husband, Manoel, of Lowell, Robert C. Urbanek and his wife, Lorraine, of Dracut, and Frank M. Urbanek and his wife, Malisa, of Methuen; nine grandchildren, Donna Lizotte and her husband, Steven, of Tewksbury, Laurie Laurent and her husband, Marc, of Dracut, Sharon Sheehan and her husband, Michael, of Pepperell, Kayla Page and her husband, Marty, of Center Barnstead, NH, Katherine Urbanek, Brandon Urbanek, and Nickolas Urbanek, all of Methuen, and Hayden Barbosa and Jared Barbosa both of Lowell; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Ambrosini of Dracut; and her favorite sister in law, Irene Lopes of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews.
