Mildred B. (Branco) Silva
BILLERICA Mildred B. (Branco) Silva, 91, of Billerica, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley in Billerica. She was the wife of the late David F. Silva who passed away in January 2015.
She was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, on July 26, 1924 and was a daughter of the late Joseph F. Branco and the late Dorothy (Mendes) Branco. Mildred came to the United States and settled in Lowell where she lived for most of her life. After her retirement in 1989, she relocated to Florida, however she recently moved back to the Lowell area to be closer to her family. She was a gifted seamstress and was well known for making dresses and gowns.
Mildred also enjoyed baking and playing golf, especially with her late husband, David.
She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, member of Vesper Country Club, and was a volunteer at the former St. John’s Hospital in the 1960’s-1970’s.
Mildred is survived by her two sons, Dr. David A. Silva and his wife, Dr. Rebecca Gomes of El Cerrito, California, and Allan Silva of North Billerica; her grandchildren, David Allan Silva of North Billerica and Estrella Silva of El Cerrito, California; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mildred was also the mother of the late Michael Silva and sister of the late Olympia Branco, the late Ruth Rodrigues, the late Gene Branco, and the late Walter Branco.
CLOSE FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED HER PRIVATE VISITATION FROM 11 A.M. UNTIL 1 P.M. ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 7 AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL, MA 978-458-6816. HER FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD IN THE FUNERAL HOME AT 1 P.M. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
