Mary S. Picanso
LOWELL Mary S. (Silva) Picanso, 93, a lifelong Lowell resident, died peacefully in her sleep, Friday, May 28, 2010, at Blaire House of Tewksbury. She was the widow of the late Manuel C. Picanso who passed away in 1984.
A daughter of the late John S. Silva and the late Rose C. (Silva) Silva, she was born October 11, 1916, in Lowell and was educated in the local schools.
Mary worked as a stitcher in the textile industry in the City, retiring from Nu Knit Manufacturing after thirty years of service. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and always remembered everyone of her family and friends in her daily prayers. Crocheting was her hobby, and she loved to make items for family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Richard F. Picanso and his wife, Deon, of Londonderry, NH, and David M. Picanso and his wife, Candace, of Haverhill; four grandchildren, Amanda J. Breitmaier and her husband, James, of Somersworth, NH, Jaime D. Picanso of Haverhill, Ellen E. Picanso of McLean, VA, and Jeffrey M. Picanso of New York, NY; two great grandchildren, Steven K. McEwan of Somersworth, NH, and Shauna E. Breitmaier of Somersworth, NH; and several nieces and nephews including Ronald Silva of Largo, FL and Eleanor Camara of Lowell.
