Last of the McArdle Family
LOWELL Mary Bernice McArdle, 85, of Lowell, died unexpectedly, Thursday, March 13, 2014, at her home. Mary was the last member of the McArdle Family, and was very proud of her Irish and Scottish Heritage.
A daughter of the late Bernard C. McArdle and the late Mary J. (McKay) McArdle who were prominent Lowell business owners, she was born November 3, 1928, in Chelmsford. She was raised and educated in Lowell, and had worked in her family’s businesses for many years before working as an assembler for Wang Laboratories for many years. She was a former communicant of St. Peter’s Church.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great grandson. She was a huge Boston Red Sox fan and also loved animals, watching television, and enjoyed the ocean.
She is survived by her daughter, Doreen Morel of Lowell; her grandchildren, Robert D. Morel Sr. and his wife, Janeen, of Tyngsboro, Caitlin M. Morel of Nashua, NH, and Ryan B. Morel of Lowell; her great grand son, Robert ‘RJ’ Morel Jr., of Tyngsboro, and she was expecting her first great grand daughter in May 2014; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also a sister of the late Anna E. Norman, the late James T. McArdle, the late Raymond McArdle, the late Attorney Bernard McArdle, the late Alice Robins, and the late Rose Shattuck.
