Marlene Joy Turner
"Grammie, G.G."

LOWELL Marlene Joy (York) Turner, 77, of Lowell, died Thursday, October 30, 2014, after a brief illness with her loving family at her side. She was the beloved wife of Edward Turner, who she had met while he was serving in the United States Air Force. They married on November 28, 1954, and would have celebrated their Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary this year.
A daughter of the late Thomas and the late Ida Pearl (Dawes) York, she was born January 29, 1937, in Madison, Tennessee, and was educated in that area and was a member of the Church of Christ in Old Hickory, Tennessee.
In 1974, she moved with her family to Lowell, making her home in the Pawtucketville Section of the City for more than forty years. She worked as a nurse assistant for Tewksbury State Hospital for fifteen years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her loving husband, Edward, she is survived by her children, Debbie Perino and her husband, Andy Chambers, of East Patchogue, NY, and Scott Turner and his wife, Kerry, of Groton; several grandchildren including, Lisa Strahan, Jennifer "Taz" Notarnicola, Brian Perino, Amanda Wegman, Derrick Turner, Abby Turner, and Lincoln Turner; her great grandchildren, Emma Strahan and Ellie Strahan; her brothers, Fred York and his wife, Joan, of Madison, TN, and Clyde Lee York and Glenda of Madisonville, KY; and many nieces and nephews including Nancy O’Flaherty and Mary O’Flaherty.
She was also predeceased by her siblings Paul York, Myrtle Bailey, Claud York, Tom Joe York and Alice Welch.
