Marietta A. 'Marie' Camacho
CHELMSFORD Marietta A. 'Marie' (Desilets) Camacho, 93, died Monday, April 15, 2013, after briefly staying at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House. She was the widow of the late Joseph Camacho who died in 1987.
A daughter of the late Joseph and the late Alphonsine (Desilets) Desilets, she was born March 18, 1920, in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada, and came to the United States with her family as a child, settling in Lowell's Pawtucketville Neighborhood.
She married and made her home in Lowell, and was a communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church. She later settled in Chelmsford and was a communicant of St. Mary Church. Marietta was a long term volunteer with the Chelmsford Senior Center, delivering meals on wheels until she was well into her eighties. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, playing cards and taking care of her grandchildren.She helped family and friends in any way she could.
She is survived by her children, Carol D. Daigneault of Lowell, Ronald P. Camacho of Chelmsford, Patricia A. Hickey and her husband, Neil, of Tyngsboro, James P. Camacho of Pennsylvania, and Robert G. Camacho and his wife, Deborah, of Chelmsford; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister, Rosie Hervieux of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late John Camacho and the late Joseph Camacho, and was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Grace, Blanche, Cecile, Paul, and Phil.
