Marie K. Grande

Beloved Wife, Aunt, Grand Aunt, Great Grand Aunt

WESTFORD Marie K. (Murphy) Grande, 84 of Westford, died peacefully, July 5, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home with her devoted husband John by her side.

Born in Lowell on November 21, 1927, Marie was one of four children born to Edward F. Murphy and Nora Rose (Ryan) Murphy. She was the youngest sister of Edward Murphy of Lowell, the late Rita J. Martin who lived in Dracut and the late Eileen Fields who lived in Westford.

A graduate of Lowell High and Emerson College of Boston, she was employed at Radio Station WLLH of Lowell where she produced her own radio program. It was at WLLH where she met and later married her husband, John. Marie was emplyed as an administrative assistant for the United States Government with the Corps of Engineers in Bedford, MA.

Marie enjoyed spending time at Cape Cod and traveling throughout the United States and abroad. She excelled in oil painting on canvas and linen, and won several blue ribbons for her gold leaf applique creations with furniture and serving trays.

A communicant of The Lowell Assembly of God, she is survived by her husband, John A. Grande of Westford and her brother, Edward F. Murphy Jr., former Deputy Superintenent of the Lowell Police Department. She also leaves her goddaughter and niece Noralee Martin Barbieri and nieces, Valerie M. Martin and her husband Atty. David R. Hagemeyer of Boston, Arleen Tousignant and her husband, Ernest of Townsend and Barbara McCarthy of Dracut., four nephews, Robert Autieri and his wife, Ann, of Providence, RI; David Murphy and his wife, Gloria, of Townsend, Mark Tousignant and his wife, Chary, of Lowell and Stephen Fields of New Jersey and several grand nieces, grand nephews, and a great grand nephew.

The family wishes to thank the Staff at Sunny Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the care and comfort given to Marie.
