Maria V. Floria
CHELMSFORD Maria Virginia (DaCunha) Floria, 86, of Chelmsford, died Monday, January 18, 2010 at Saints Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late John A. Floria who passed away in 1986.
Born October 30, 1923, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, she grew up in Faial and was educated in that area. She came to the United States in 1959 in order to provide a better life for her family.
Formerly of the Back Central Street area, she was a former communicant of St. Anthony’s Church until she moved to Chelmsford where she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
Maria worked as a seamstress for Bern and Peters for over twenty years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family and as a gifted seamstress, made personal items for family and friends and enjoyed working with crafts like crocheting and knitting. In addition, she loved to garden.
She is survived by her son, John A. Floria Jr. of Chelmsford; her daughter, Maria A. Floria-Schroeder of Chelmsford; and several nieces and nephews.
