Maria O. Vitorino

DRACUT       Maria O. (Amaral) Vitorino, 78, of Dracut,  passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, January 1 , 2019.   She was the widow of the late Alexandre S.  Vitorino who died in 1982.

      A daughter of the late Manuel Amaral and the late Utilia Amaral, she was born August 14, 1940, in Sao Jorge Azores.  She was raised and educated in the Azores.  After her marriage she relocated to Angola and started her family.  She also owned and operated a store for many years before coming to the United States in 1979.

     She made her home in Lowell for many years, and worked for the former Wang Laboratories before becoming affiliated with Qualtronics.

     She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, and in addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed cooking and especially loved to bake.

     Her survivors include her children, Alexandre M. Vitorino and his wife, Maria, of Dracut, Ana R. Prata and her husband, Mario, of Dracut, and Fernando Vitorino and his wife, Judy, of Lowell; her grandchildren, Tatiana Nikodemus and her husband, Merlin, Mario Prata, Nicholas Vitorino and his wife, Monica, Ariana Vitorino, Nathan Vitorino, Lucas Amaral, Alexis Vitorino, Felicia Vitorino, Serena Vitorino, and Jordan;  her siblings, Antonio Amaral and  his wife, Salome, of Toronto, Zelia Afonso and Isaura Silviera both of the Azores, Alvaro Amaral and his wife, Angela, of California, and Jose Amaral and his wife, Lina, of California; her sister in law, Fatima Espinola of Tyngsboro; and many nieces and nephews.

       She was also the mother of the late Carlos A. Amaral who passed away in 2013, and a sister of the late Fernando Amaral and the late Francisco Amaral.

           YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON FRIDAY.  

ON SATURDAY, HER FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. 

HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED SATURDAY AT ST. ANTHONY’S CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL ST., LOWELL  AT 10 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
