Maria Emilia (Silva) Lobao
LOWELL Maria Emilia (Silva) Lobao, 77, of Tewksbury, died unexpectedly Monday, February 15, 2010 at Saints Medical Center. She was the wife of Raul Lobao, with whom they would have celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary May 9, 2010.
Born October 31, 1932, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Arnaldo, and the late Emilia Silva. After moving the the United States on June 17, 1972, she made her home in Lowell with her family and worked at Commodore Foods on Lawrence Street. Later she worked at Wang Laboratories until her retirement in 1994. Since 1986 she has made her home in Tewksbury.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of the Holy Ghost Society. She loved to crochet and talk on the phone with her friends. She had a passion for flowers and enjoyed tending to her garden. She enjoyed cooking, baking, going on trips, and watching the carnival dances, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Raul, she is survived by a daughter, Leonia Faustino and her husband, Joe of Tewksbury; two sons, Helio Lobao and his wife, Maria Filomena of Tyngsboro, and Raul Lobao and his wife, Manuela of Quebec, Canada; four grandchildren, Nicholas A. Faustino of Tewksbury, Arielle Lobao of Lowell, Jeffrey Lobao of Quebec, Canada, Chantal Lobao of Tyngsboro; three great grandchildren, Saihena, DeAndre, and Devion Rivera; a sister, Maria Alice and her husband, Jose Silva of Terceira, Azores; a brother, Luis Manuel and his wife, Grimeneza Silva of Terceira, Azores; six sister-in-laws; Olga Bettencourt and her husband, Francisco of Lowell, Fatima Silva and her husband, Olimpio of Lowell, Madalena Cunha of Lowell, Alexandrinha Baker of Dracut, Alice Silva of Billerica, and Maria Rosario Lobao of Lowell; a brother-in-law Frank Lobao of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Leonia Lobao; sister of the late Rubene Silva; daughter-in-law of the late Francisco and Alexandrinha Lobao; sister-in-law of the late Joao Lobao, Antonio Lobao, and Raul Cunha.
