Maria (Frias) Cruz
LOWELL Maria (Frias) Cruz, 92, of Lowell, died after a long illness Sunday, January 16, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the widow of João Cruz who passed away in 1984.
Born July 24, 1918, in São Miguel, Açores, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Manuel, and the late Ana (Da Silva) Frias.
She resided in Lowell since 1972, and was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. She worked for many years for Commodore Foods, and retired in 1982.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria Borges of Lowell; three grand-children, Anthony Borges of Lowell, Helena Borges Silva and her fiancé, Aaron Fiskum of Pelham, NH, and Carlos Borges and his wife, Ann Marie of Tyngsboro; three great-grandchildren, Eric Silva of Lowell, Amanda Silva of Lowell, and Kayla Borges of Tyngsboro; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother-in-law of the late Antonio Borges. She was also predeceased by numerous siblings in São Miguel.
