Maria A. da Silva
LOWELL Maria A. da Silva, 92 of Lowell, passed
away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 with her daughter by her
side. She was the widow of the late Manuel A. da Silva, with whom she
shared 61 years of marriage before he passed away in 2014.
Maria was
born on August 21, 1927 in Faial, Azores, Portugal and was a daughter
of the late Teodmiro Floria and the late Ana (Cunha) Floria. She was
raised in the Azores, where she was educated and worked as a seamstress
in Faial after she completed schooling. She then met Manuel and in 1953,
she followed him to Mozambique, where he was stationed in the military.
They lived in Mozambique until 1971 when they relocated to the United
States to raise their family, settling in Lowell.
Once in Lowell,
she was a communicant of St. Anthony Church and worked at Carol Shoe for
many years before they ceased operations. She then worked at Wang
Laboratories until her retirement in the early 1990’s.
She is
survived by two children, Maria Silva of Lowell and Rui Silva and his
wife, Billee of Florida; two grandsons, Ryan Silva of Florida and Marco
Rocha and his wife Roseanne, of California.
Maria was also
the grandmother of late Paulo Rocha who passed away in 2003; and was
the last surviving sibling of 5 children. The family would like to thank
Merrimack Valley Hospice for their kindness and compassion during
Maria's final days.

HER FUNERAL MASS WILL TAKE PLACE PRIVATELY.
