Marguerite Hope McNeil
LOWELL Marguerite H. (Burke) McNeil, 92, of Lowell, passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at D'Youville Senior Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late John J. McNeil with whom she shared over 50 years of marriage with before he passed away in 2005.
A daughter of the late John H. Burke and the late Marguerite (Boland) Burke, she was born on December 16, 1921 in Lowell. She attended the area schools including St. Michael's School, Dracut High School, and Lowell Tech.
She resided in Pawtucketville, and she was a communicant of St. Rita's Parish, where was was the past president of St. Rita's Church Womans Club. She was a longtime officer in the Catholic Daughters. Marguerite was employed as a Hospital Administrator during World War II, and then as an administrative assistant for M.I.T. Lincoln Labs for a few years before settling down and raising her family with her husband, Jack. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially at the Papa's Camp in Pelham. She enjoyed talking politics and was known for never forgetting a birthday or phone number.
She is survived by six sons, John J. McNeil Jr. and his wife, Diane of Lowell, Michael A. McNeil and his wife, MaryJo of Lowell, Frank J. McNeil of Westford, Richard P. McNeil and his wife, Carol Ann of Westford, Timothy M. McNeil and his wife, Kathleen of Windham, and Paul W. McNeil of Lowell. Marguerite is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Shaun McNeil, Cheri McNeil and her fiance, Scott Gagnon, Ryan McNeil and his fiance, Hanah Williams, Brian McNeil and his wife, Corie, Devin McNeil, Amy Jasperson and her husband, Scott, Bathany McNeil, Katelyn McNeil, Brianna McNeil,Brittany Devers, and Robert White; her great grandchildren, Alena Devers, Violett Gagnon, and Evan Scott Jasperson; and many nieces and nephews.
Marguerite was also the mother in law of the late Kristine M. McNeil; grandmother of the late Michael McNeil; and sister of the late Catherine Horman, Mary Garry, Irene Burke, Paul Burke, and John Burke. She was also the sister in law of the late Lucy and Francis 'Cliff' McNeil, and the late Joseph and Helen Flynn.
