Marguerite Braga
Lifelong Lowell Resident
LOWELL Marguerite (Cayer) Braga, 83, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Sunday, December 21, 2008, after a brief illness. She was the wife of James Braga with whom she celebrated 61 years of marriage on April 26, 2008.
A daughter of the late Frank and the late Rose (Leclerc) Cayer, she was born June 21, 1925, in Lowell, and educated in the local schools. She worked for over 40 years as a seamstress in the Lowell garment industry at Shields, Model Dress, Robert Leonard, and other companies.
She was a devoted grandmother who shared her warmth and humor as she helped raise and care for her grandchildren. She loved dancing and was involved with the Lowell Senior Center. Her favorite pastimes were making clothes for family members and traveling. She enjoyed driving across the country and taking trips to Europe and Japan. She was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Peter's, St. Joseph's Lithuanian, Sacred Heart, St. Anthony's, and Holy Family.
In addition to her husband, James, she is survived by two children, James Braga of Burke, VA, and Deborah O’Brien and her husband, Richard, of Lowell; four grandchildren, Matthew O’Brien and his wife, Prema, of Oakland, CA, Andrew Braga of San Diego, CA, Adam Braga of Burke, VA, and Aaron Braga of Burke, VA; two sisters, Henrietta Moore and her husband, Kenneth, of Hudson, NH, and Jo Ann Baker and her husband, Robert, of Virginia Beach, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Raymond Cayer and the late Anita Buteau, and mother-in-law of the late Nancy Braga.

ON WEDNESDAY, HER FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL (978 OR 800) 458-6816.

HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY’S CHURCH AT 10 A.M..
