Loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister
LOWELL Margaret A. (Welch) Hebert, 91, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Monday, August 12, 2013, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home after an extended illness with her family by her side. For fifty seven years, she was the devoted wife of the late Raymond Hebert who died in November 2007.
A daughter of the late James and the late Mary Ellen (McGovern) Welch, she was born January 28, 1922, in Lowell, and educated in the Lowell Schools, including St. Peter’s Grammar School and Lowell High School.
She made her lifelong home in Lowell, and was a resident of the Highlands Section of the City for over 50 years. She was a member of the former St. Peter’s Parish, and a communicant of St. Margaret Church. She was also a member of the Womens’ Auxilliary of the Veterans’ of Foreign Wars, Post 10333, Tyngsboro, and a member of the American Legion Womens’ Auxilliary in Lowell as well as a member of Mt. Pleasant Golf Club where she enjoyed singing in the musical shows put on at the Club over thr years. Margaret was active in several organizations affiliated with St. Margaret Church, and was a former Boy Scout Den Mother.
Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, was her favorite past time, as well as sitting on her porch and visiting with her longtime neighbors.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth R. Hebert and his wife, Kathy, of Manchester, NH, Diane M. Sharkey and her husband, James, of Doylestown, PA and Rye, NH, and Darlene K. Hughes and her husband, Michael, of Portsmouth, NH; her grandchildren, James Sharkey and Andrew Sharkey of Doylestown, PA, Daniel Hughes and his wife, Melissa, of Brooklyn, NY, Kerry Hughes of Portsmouth, NH, and Richard Hebert and Cody Hebert of Manchester, NH; her sister, Lillian Hebert of Lowell;her close friend and private duty nurse, Maryann Mungovan of Dracut; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the grandmother of the late Corey Hebert, and sister of the late Mary Mastas, the late Anthony Welch, the late James Welch, and the late William Welch.
