Manuel ‘Manny’ Silva
‘Devoted Husband, Loving Father, Car Enthusiast’

LOWELL Manuel ‘Manny’ Silva, 55, a longtime resident of Lowell, died unexpectedly while at work, Tuesday, May 29, 2012, in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was the husband of Deborah M. (Driscoll) Silva, with whom he would have celebrated their Twenty Fifth Wedding Anniversary this coming October.

A son of the late John and the late Cecilia (Lobao) Silva, he was born October 28, 1956, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, and came to the United States with his family when he was three months old. Since that time, he made his home in Lowell, and was educated in the local schools.

Manny was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, and enjoyed spending time with his family and cooking. He especially enjoyed hunting deer and turkey, and also enjoyed fishing. He was an avid car enthusiast, and always enjoyed working on cars, completing several special projects over the years. For over twenty years, he owned his own trucking company, Silva's Inc., and also worked as a subcontractor for Brox Industries.

In addition to his wife, Deborah, he is survived by his son, Edward J. Silva of Lowell; his daughter, Molly V. Silva of Lowell; his brothers, Olympia Silva and his wife, Fatima of Lowell, and Silveno Silva and his wife, Carole, of Lowell; his sisters, Florence Silva of Lowell, Mary Estacio and her husband, Laureano, of Lowell, and Idelta Homen and her husband, Gerry, of Lowell; his brothers in law, Joseph Gallagher and his companion, Sandra Meagher, of Lowell and Ronald Gallagher of Lowell; his sister in law, Sharon Loughran and her husband, Frederick, of Lowell; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and co-workers.
He was also a brother in law of the late Manuel Silva, and a son in law of the late Georgia M. Visocchi.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 2 UNTIL 6 P.M. ON SUNDAY, JUNE 3. ON MONDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 8 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY’S CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL ST., LOWELL AT 9 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
