Manuel Silva Felix

Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Great Great Grandfather

LOWELL - Manuel Silva Felix, 92 of Lowell, passed away at Saint’s Medical Center on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Graciosa, Azores on December 13, 1917, son of the late Antonio Felix and the late Maria Madalena Alves. He was the beloved husband of the late Alice Felix with whom he celebrated 64 years of marriage this past February.

He came to the United States in 1963. Manuel worked at Commodore Foods in Lowell until retiring at age 66. He was very active in the community and always willing to help when called upon. He was a communicant of St Anthony’s Church, a lifetime member of the Holy Ghost Society, Portuguese American Center, and Portuguese American Civic League, and he was one of the founders of the Banda do Espirito Santo of Lowell. Music was his passion.

He is survived by 5 children, Deidamia Bettencourt and her husband Florentino of Lowell, Antonio Felix and his wife Maria of Dracut, Rui Felix and his wife Darlene of Lowell, Cecilia Sequeira and her husband Jose of Lowell , and Norberto Felix and his wife Katia of Tewksbury, 14 grandchildren; Roy Felix Jr., Lisa Hodgson, Maria Alice Vitorino, Lori Chiappetta, Heidi Hall, Steven Bettencourt, Derek Felix, Jeff Sequeira, Amy Hughes, Brian Felix, Tanya Felix, Kyle Felix, Matthew Lemos, and Lukas Lemos.

He is also survived by 2 sisters-in-law, Hilda Sousa of Dracut, and Noemia Santos and her husband Carlos of Lowell, brothers-in-law Arlindo Melo of Graciosa and John Branco of Lowell, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild along with many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Maria Branco and Ilda Machado and her husband Manuel and brother-in-law of Casmiro and Deidamia Sousa, José and Maria Dias, Ivo and Hermina Lima, Manuel and Felismina Lobão, Frank and Irene Leandro, Aristides Sousa, and Libia Melo.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON FRIDAY. ON SATURDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY’S CHURCH AT 10 A.M.. A PROCESSION WILL FOLLOW FOR BURIAL AT ST. MARY CEMETERY.
