Manuel DeSousa Borba
LOWELL Manuel DeSousa Borba, 87, of Lowell, died at Radius Northwood Health Care Center on Saturday, August 14, 2010, eleven years to the day from August 14, 1999, when he move from Portugal to the United States to make his home in Lowell. He was the widower of the late Madalena (Silva) Borba.
Born March 31, 1923, in Sao Jorge, Azores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Antonio Machado and the late Maria (Delfina) DeSousa Machado. While in Portugal, he was a farmer, starting at a very young age, he was a farmer for over 60 years. He made his home on High Street and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. He was also a member of the Portuguese American Club, the ‘Blues Club’ and enjoyed spending time at the Senior Center at the Blues Club.
He is survived by his children, Orlanda Reis and her husband, Victor, of Lowell, Helio Borba and his wife, Lucia, of Terceira, Azores, Juvenalia Simao and her husband, Joao, of California, Analia Furtado and her husband, Francisco, of California, Esmenia Alves and her husband, Elmiro, of Canada, Rosa Bernardo and her husband, Jorge, of Lowell, Natalia Cardoso and her husband, Jose, of Lowell, Nelia Ficher and her husband, Joao, of Lowell, Pascoalina Ferreira and her husband, Joao, of Canada, Lurdes Cunha and her husband, Alvaro, of California, and Paula Silva and her husband, Joao, of Lowell; thirty grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Jose Borba
