Maria T. Brum
LOWELL Maria T. (Tavares) Brum, 78, of Lowell, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at New England Sinai Hospital after a brief illness.
Born May 8, 1940, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Eugenio Brum and the late Angelina (Pereira) Brum, and was raised and educated in Portugal.
She came to the United States in the 1960’s, settling in Lowell, where she made her home for many years, and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. She worked for various shoe shops in the area.
Maria will be remembered as a kind hearted woman. At her core was her family, and she loved taking care of them, cooking and doing laundry for them. She especially loved children. She was a participant in the D’Youville Day Program and enjoyed the programs and time spent there.
She is survived by, her brothers and sisters, Virginio Tavares, Maria De Lurdes Tavares, Maria De Jesus Medeiros, Trindade Tavares and Francisco Brum all of Lowell. She is also survived by her children, Peter, Carlos and Cesar McCarthy all of Tewksbury, as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Manuel Pimentel, and her brothers and sisters, Angelina Pacheco, Guilhermina Silva, Ofelia Horta, Manuel Brum, Jose Brum and Luis Brum.
