Leo J. Mayo, Jr.
LOWELL Leo J. Mayo, Jr., 66, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Thursday, May 8, 2014, at his home after a valiant battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Margaret M. (Kenney) Mayo with whom he celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary May 7, 2014.
Leo was a son of the late Leo Mayo and the late Edna St. Pierre and brother of the late Patricia (St. Pierre) Morin. He was born January 6, 1948, in Lowell, and was educated in the Lowell School system.
He made his lifelong home in the Belvidere Section of the City, and was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church. He worked as a carpet installer throughout the Lowell area until his retirement. Leo was also employed as a General Contractor for C & G Associates. He enjoyed candle pin bowling, hunting, scuba diving and deep sea fishing, and was also a volunteer scuba diver for the Lowell Police Rescue and Recovery Team. He was a devoted grandfather and was an avid sports fan, especially for the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox
In addition to his wife, Margaret, he is survived by his son, Leo J. Mayo III and his wife, Heather of Dracut; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Jordan, Carter, and Preston; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, George Tevepaugh of Dracut.
