LOWELL Kenya C. Reis, 42, of Lowell, passed away after a long illness with her family by her side, Monday, February 17, 2014 at her home.
Born October 18, 1971, in Minas Gerais, Brazil, she was a daughter of Jose S. 'Valente' Reis, and Iris M. (Santos) Reis, both of Lowell. She came to the United States when she was eight months old, settling in Lowell with her parents. Kenya attended the local schools in Lowell, and graduated from Greater Lowell Technical High School, before pursuing her education at Middlesex Community College.
Kenya was a longtime Lowell resident, residing in the Christian Hill section of the city and was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. She was employed as a Child Care Provider for four years within the Greater Lowell Childcare Program. For many years she attended Castle Hill Day Program, where she greatly enjoyed her time spent. She loved music, dancing, and dining out, especially to eat Chinese Food. More than anything she enjoyed time she spent with her family and friends, especially at Hampton Beach.
In addition to both her parents, Jose S. 'Valente' Reis and Iris M. (Santos) Reis both of Lowell; she is survived by two brothers, Alex L. Reis and Steven J. Reis and his fiance, Lisa Blake, all of Lowell; her devoted caregivers, Evelyn Blake, Maryuri Negron, Maria Anjos and Saundra Lopes all of Lowell; her godmother, Leonia Mendonca of Tewksbury; her sister at heart, Mitzy Lima of Lowell; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends in both the United States and in Brazil.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS FROM 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20. ON FRIDAY, HER FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
