Julia J. Moushegian
SUMMIT NJ Julia Moushegian, a long-time resident of Lowell, MA died Tuesday, February 22, just one month short of her 90th birthday. Julie, as everyone knew her, was a devoted wife to her late husband Harry and dedicated mother of her three daughters, Harriet, Karen and Cheryl, who died tragically as a young woman.
Julie was an uncomplaining dynamo who lived an active life until she became ill five months ago. Julie was born March 21, 1921, in Brockton, MA where she grew up and went to school. During World War II she met Harry, who was to become her husband of more than fifty years. Julie thought he was a handsome guy from the first time they met, but that didn’t deter Julie from playing hard-to-get. Harry refused to be discouraged and they were married in 1944. Then Julie moved to Lowell, living with Harry’s family during the war years and later on Bellevue Street in the Highlands section of Lowell.
In addition to raising three daughters and making a home that became a social center for family and friends, Julie worked for Robey shoes for years and later at the Western Electric Merrimack Valley Works until her retirement.
Julie lived with her daughter Harriet Bassman and her husband Henry in Summit, NJ for the past four years. She died peacefully, in her own bed, surrounded by family.
Julie is survived by her daughters, Harriet Bassman and her husband, Henry, of Summit, New Jersey, and Karen Temple and her husband, David, of Nashua, NH; her five granddaughters, Jessica Bassman, Kara Bassman, Lauren Bassman, Charlene Temple, and Ariel Temple; her great grandson, Logan Temple; and a large extended family in the Armenian community.
