Julia Alice Boyle
LOWELL Julia Alice (Burns) Boyle, 88, of Lowell, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Saints Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late Francis J. Boyle.
Born February 10, 1922, in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late William and the late Mary (Burke) Burns and was the last surviving child of a family of 11. Julia was educated in the local schools, was a graduate of Lowell High School and earned a business degree from Bradshaw Business College.
A former member of St. Peter’s Church, she was also a member of St. Peter’s Church Ladies Sodality before becoming a longtime communicant of St. Margaret’s Church. She was also a former member of Mount Pleasant Golf Club.
Julia was a gifted pianist and enjoyed dancing, primarily tap dancing in her younger days. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid card player, enjoyed Bingo, and traveling, in particular to Las Vegas.
She worked for the City of Lowell as a Traffic Supervisor for over fifteen years before her retirement.
Her survivors include her children, Karen Finnegan of Tyngsboro, F. Leanne Boyle of Kingston, Arthur Boyle and his wife, Renee, of Tyngsboro, Patricia J. Boyle and her fiancee, Michael K. Fairbrother, of Lowell; and her eight dear grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by her niece and nephews of The Mercier Family.
