Joseph T. Medeiros
LOWELL Joseph T. Medeiros, 71, of Lowell, died Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Radius Northwood Healthcare Center after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Mary T. (Brum) Medeiros, with whom he would have celebrated their forty-third Wedding Anniversary this coming November.
Born January 6, 1940, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Joao and the late Elvira (Tavares) Medeiros, and was educated in that area. From 1961 until 1963, Mr. Medeiros served with the Portuguese Military before coming to the United States in 1969.
He made his home on Lincoln Street for many years, and more recently on Lawrence Street, and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. He was also a member of the Portuguese American Civic League, the Portuguese American Center, and the Holy Ghost Society. He loved spending time with his family, playing and coaching soccer, watching Benfica and playing cards with his friends.
Mr. Medeiros was a construction worker for over twenty years with Perini in Boston, and had owned Medeiros Hot Top for over ten years.
In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his children, Charles A. Medeiros and his fiancé, Jennifer Romeo of Burlington, Joseph M. Medeiros of Pelham, NH, and Olinda M. Borodawka and her husband, James of Tyngsboro; his grandchildren, Joseph Medeiros of Pelham, NH, Lindsey Lopez-Borodawka of Tyngsboro, Charles Medeiros of Lowell, Matthew Medeiros of Pelham, NH, Alexya Medeiros of Lowell, and Jameson Borodawka of Tyngsboro. He is also survived by his brothers, Carlos Medeiros and his wife, Glorinda of Dracut, Joao Medeiros and his wife, Brina of Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, and Pedro Medeiros and his wife, Lucia of Norway; his sisters, Elvira Medeiros of Canary Islands, Spain, Arminda Gomes and her husband, Augusto of Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, and Margarida Carreiro and her husband, Carlos of Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal; and a sister in law, Fatima Medeiros of Lowell.
He was also the father of the late Margaret Rosa Medeiros who passed away in 1980; and brother of the late Manuel Medeiros and Conceicao Medeiros Galvao.
